Before we could move in, we had to make the house livable as well as changing the layout and space available in numerous rooms.
The garden was overgrown and needed hedges removed to open up the space, which we did.
The kitchen was opened up by removing a wall. The floor was replaced and new modern tiles used for the kitchen work area. Some tiles were coated over a texture to make all smooth.
New work tops and modern tiling used for kitchen build. The patterns took a little while to locate but they make it a homely feel and add a sense of brightness and homely feel.
As many homes homes in Brazil use only one water supply, we also installed a further hot water line so that we could use solar water heating in the future, which is what we did after a while, just cant beat hot water when its heated by the sun.
The pantry that was a walk in from the kitchen was bricked up and made into an en-suite bathroom for our main bedroom.
The two smaller bedrooms now have access to their own bathroom. A new door was made under the guidance of my creative wife.
The black rough tiles were removed throughout the house and new larger ceramic tiles were installed. Removing the old black tiles did take some time though, along with many skip loads of rubbish.
Te house renovation was the main priority, so that we could actually move in. The garden came second, although they were worked on at the same time quite a lot of the time.
The pool had to be cleaned as it was a bit of a health issue, but once done it gave a whole new perspective to the garden area and was the focal point for outside. Although the wife had further plans for this which i will mention later.
We had three built in umbrellas around the pool area. They may have looked the part, but they were very corroded inside which we found out soon after. They have now been modified which i will show in another post.
All the tiles around the pool area were eventually removed and replaced with a wood affect tiling which looks just great now.
We even had lights sunk into the tiling for a good night time affect, but these came later
