So you need to think of a couple of things first, before you proceed to *** the car of your dreams
Do you want a new car
A second hand one
Do you want to import one from another country
We will talk about each one in turn briefly
So you want to *** a new car. This quite straight forward to be honest but there will be some taxes to pay which is normal. If you have bought a new car, you wont be liable to get the car checked each year, but only after 5 years of use. Otherwise every year you will need to pay whats called IPVA. You will also need to get your car inspected every year by DETRAN, you will pay for this privilege, not a great amount but worthwhile doing, because if you get stopped by the traffic police and you haven't done the DETRAN check they can take your car off you and impound it, where upon you will pay for storage.
Buying a second hand car in Brazil, is very hit and miss. I would highly recommend that you go to a large dealership if you insist on second hand. You then know that they have checked the vehicle for faults and they will most likely give you 6 months guarantee as well. I have bought new and second hand cars in Brazil, never *** a second hand car privately as you just do not know what you are buying, you have been warned on this point. There are some very good second hand dealerships in Brazil, try and go to one that sells new as well as older cars, as the second hand ones are generally part exchange for new cars.
So your thinking of importing a car to Brazil! my advice think again, they will hit you straight away with 60% tax and then you have to pay all the carriage charges as well as the import charges. and the car has to be new. Your better off buying a new car in Brazil.
Be aware, that new car prices are more expensive than most other countries, that's just the way it is, you have to come to terms with that, no matter how much you curse at the price.
